Rally to Free Mumia

The Labor Action Committee to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal and ANSWER/PSL organized a protest at the Federal Building in Oakland. It was organized with just two days’ notice. We were able to muster 40 protesters including ILWU Local 10 with its banner which called for DA Krasner and Judge Clemons to “Drop the Charges Now!”

Speakers called for Mumia’s immediate release and criticized the blatantly biased decision by Judge Lucretia Clemons, who stayed true to her background working as a lawyer at a pro-management, union busting law firm – the same firm where ex-Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell once worked. Rendell was the District Attorney of Philadelphia during the time that Mumia’s trial took place.
