INNOCENT & FRAMED – FREE MUMIA NOW!
NO STATE EXECUTION BY COVID!
NO ILLUSIONS IN “PROGRESSIVE” DA LARRY KRASNER!

March 5, 2021

The movement to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal, the most prominent political prisoner in the U.S.,
from the slow death of life imprisonment and the jaws of this racist and corrupt injustice system is at a critical juncture. The battle to free Mumia is as ferocious as it has ever been. We continue to face the unrelenting hostility to Mumia by this racist capitalist injustice system, which is intent on silencing him, by all means.

Akiko Hoshino, Chair of the Hoshino Defense Committee (Japan), Letter to Governor Tom Wolf

Demand for Mumia-Abu Jamal’s release
December 29, 2020

Dear Governor Wolf,

I am Akiko Hoshino, Co-chair of Hoshino Defense Committee, and the wife
of the innocent prisoner Fumiaki Hoshino who died last year in prison
after 44 years detention. On November 14, 1971 he led a demonstration
against the Okinawa Reversion Agreement between the U.S and Japan and
was sentenced to indefinite term imprisonment for framed-up charge of
killing a policeman. There was no physical evidence at all; only forced
eyewitness testimonies of juvenile participants of the demonstration
were the incriminating evidence. The “most competent evidence” was
that a juvenile saw a man in beige jacket beating the policeman and he was
Hoshino. However, according to the physical evidence found out later,
Hoshino wore light blue jacket and gray trousers.

OEA Statement on Colin Kaepernick’s Call for Mumia’s Freedom

The Oakland Education Association (OEA), representing nearly 2,800 educators in the Oakland Unified School District, applauds Colin Kaepernick’s statement calling for freedom for Mumia Abu-Jamal. In a video statement, Kaepernick documented how nearly 40 years ago Abu-Jamal was framed for the murder of a Philadelphia police officer, framed by a police department notorious for its systematic racist brutality and for tampering with evidence to convict the innocent.

Kaepernick himself has been blackballed by the NFL for protesting police violence against the African American community since he first took a knee as an SF 49er. His courage in the forefront of anti-racist struggle inspired much of the NFL to take a knee, leading athletes to protest police violence and to boycott sporting events following the murder of George Floyd.

Colin Kaepernick Supports Mumia!

21 November 2020

Colin Kaepernick is a professional football quarter-back with a sterling record, but he is now an unemployed free agent. This could not be a more important indication of systemic racism in the US, nor a greater condemnation of the corporate worms that own football in this country.

In the 49ers’ third preseason game in 2016 Kaepernick sat during the playing of the US  National anthem prior to the game, as a protest against police brutality and systematic oppression of blacks in this country. Throughout the regular season, Kaepernick continued his protest by kneeling during the anthem. During a post-game interview that year, Kaepernick explained his position stating, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

Saturday, May 9th
10 am
Larkspur Ferry Terminal (near San Quentin Prison)

The Labor Action Committee To Free Mumia Abu-Jamal is calling for a car caravan/protest and rally at San Quentin Prison on Saturday May 9th. We demand that Governor Newsom act to prevent prisoners from being infected by this deadly pandemic. Overcrowded and unsanitary conditions which are pervasive in San Quentin and prisons across the country! In the Marion, Ohio prison fully 80% of prisoners have tested positive! Packing inmates like sardines in San Quentin Prison cells will infect many and some will die. Confined spaces like prisons, ICE jails and cruise ships act as incubators of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
